About

The Nepal Geological Students’ Society (NGSS) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1990 A.D. Its office is located within the premises of the Central Department of Geology (CDG) at Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur, Kathmandu. NGSS was formally registered with the District Administration Office (DAO) in Kathmandu in 2014 A.D., reflecting its commitment to advancing the field of geosciences in Nepal.

NGSS serves as a united platform for geology students across Nepal. Its membership includes students pursuing M.Sc. in Geology and M.Sc. in Engineering Geology from both the Central Department of Geology (CDG) and Tri-Chandra Multiple Campus in Kathmandu. Additionally, B.Sc. Geology students in their fourth year from institutions such as Central Campus of Technology (CCT) in Dharan, Prithvi Narayan (P.N.) Campus in Pokhara, Birendra Multiple Campus in Chitwan, and Tri-Chandra Multiple Campus in Kathmandu are also integral members of the society.

Our Mission
NGSS aims to bring together geology students from all across Nepal, creating a collective force that works towards promoting and protecting the rights and interests of geology students. Our goal is to contribute to the overall development and growth of the geosciences sector in Nepal by fostering collaboration, sharing knowledge, and advocating for the importance of geology in national development.

What We Do
NGSS is dedicated to raising awareness and enhancing the understanding of geoscience among students, stakeholders, and the general public. We engage in a variety of educational and outreach activities, such as:

  • Webinars and seminars on cutting-edge topics in geosciences
  • Training sessions to equip students with essential practical skills and knowledge
  • Exhibitions to showcase geological findings and innovations
  • Outreach programs aimed at educating communities about the importance of geology in everyday life
  • Discussion panels involving experts to delve into pressing geoscience issues
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure geology is well-integrated into policies for sustainable development

Our Vision
NGSS envisions a future where geology plays a central role in the sustainable development of Nepal. By providing students with the tools, resources, and opportunities to collaborate, innovate, and lead, we aim to foster a generation of geoscientists who will contribute to the betterment of society through their work in research, exploration, and the responsible use of natural resources.
